    What is The Star Room?

The Star Room is the personal website of Matt, Diana, and Rohmer Brown—a family of three living in Somerset, New Jersey. It began very simply in April 2004 as a place to show off photos of Matt and Diana's then-newborn son, Rohmer, but it quickly grew into something much larger. It has since gone totally out of control.

Why is it called The Star Room?

When Matt and Diana had their first date, way back in 1992, they spent part of it laying on a driveway with pillows staring up at the stars. Matt said that he had never seen a shooting star before. As the evening wore on, they saw no less than 7. They took this as a sign.

As their early courtship turned into a serious relationship, they began to collect knick-knacks related to outer space. Books, magnets, posters, picture frames, candles, boxes, wall decorations: anything and everything that fit the theme, be it a flea market find or an expensive home furnishing. Over the years many family members and friends have contributed to the collection, which would one day, Matt and Diana dreamed, have an entire room dedicated to it—The Star Room.

While waiting for that day to come, Matt has turned The Star Room theme into a board game, a song, and now a website. Consider yourselves part of our long-standing dream. Please pass the popcorn.

What is the purpose of The Star Room?

Its purpose is two-fold: it's a way for us to communicate with family and friends, of course, but it's also an art project that continues to unfold and grow over time.

What will I find in The Star Room?

A weblog, photos, film and music reviews, recommendations, links, online projects, and more. We're talkin' total exhibitionism here, folks. You must be 18 years of age to enter. (Not really.)

      What's In It for Me?

We're trying to make The Star Room as interactive as is humanly possible. You can comment on the blog and on photos in the gallery; you can add yourself to The Star Room's Cast of Characters; and you can add your two cents to opinions of movies, albums, books, songs, and TV shows.

Are these questions really asked frequently?

Actually, we've never been asked any questions whatsoever about The Star Room, but it makes us feel important to pretend like we have.
